CeRER – Certificate in Regulated Equity Release for Equity Release Advisers
The Certificate in Regulated Equity Release (CeRER) is a specialist professional qualification for qualified mortgage advisers who want to develop their knowledge and become qualified to advise clients on regulated equity release products.
CeRER builds on existing mortgage advice knowledge and develops the specialist understanding required when advising clients about equity release and later-life lending.
To achieve the CeRER qualification, candidates must already hold CeMAP or an equivalent recognised mortgage advice qualification.
What Does CeRER Cover?
The CeRER qualification develops the specialist knowledge required to understand and advise on equity release, including the features, benefits and risks associated with different solutions and the considerations involved when advising clients in the later-life lending market.
The qualification is divided into two units:
Unit 1 – Fundamentals of Equity Release
This unit develops your understanding of the equity release market and the principles that underpin regulated equity release advice.
It covers the fundamental knowledge required to understand equity release, the needs of clients considering later-life lending and the regulatory environment in which advisers operate.
Unit 2 – Equity Release Solutions
This unit focuses on the practical application of equity release knowledge to client circumstances.
It develops your ability to consider a client’s needs and circumstances, assess potential equity release solutions and apply your technical and regulatory knowledge to realistic advice scenarios.
CeRER Assessment
CeRER is assessed through a single two-hour multiple-choice examination, divided into two units:
Unit 1 – Fundamentals of Equity Release: 50 multiple-choice questions
Unit 2 – Equity Release Solutions: 3 case studies, each containing 10 linked multiple-choice questions
A 70% pass mark is required for each unit.
