How to become an Auto Finance Specialist
To become an auto finance specialist advisers must first pass a professional qualification such as the CertAutoFS®. The CertAutoFS® (The Certificate for Automotive Finance Specialists) is the only recognised professional qualification for any candidate that wants to provide UK auto finance advice. UK consumer credit is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which requires all advisers to attain the relevant qualification before they can do so. The CertAutoFS® is a London Institute of Banking and Finance Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) Level 3 qualification.
The CertAutoFS® qualification comprises of 1 exam which is assessed by a 2 hour multiple choice exam undertaken at a Pearson Vue test centre, these are located all over the UK. To get your CertAutoFS® qualification candidates will need to register with the London Institute of Banking and Finance for each module. The registration includes an exam fee and the awarding of the qualification on successful completion of the exam. CertAutoFS® is split into 3 units:
- Unit 1 The Automotive Finance Market Place (25 multiple-choice questions and 1 case study with 5 linked questions)
- Unit 2 The Automotive Finance Regulation (40 multiple-choice questions)
- Unit 3 Customer Service and Management in an Automotive Finance Environment (15 multiple-choice questions and 3 case studies each with 5 linked questions)
The CertAutoFS® qualification is assessed via a two hour multiple choice exam. The pass mark is 70% per unit.
